Red Arrows – GibraltarTell Us More

Update - well we set off quite early on Saturday morning thinking that the queue would be quite big to cross the boarder in the car but to our suprise it was fairly quiet.  We arrived at Europa point in beautiful sumshine and a couple of thousand people all waiting to see the display.

It was definitely worth waiting for, I had forgotten quite how amazing the formations can be, very breathtaking, however it was all a little bit too much for my son, who found the Red arrows too noisy!  I hope anyone who went enjoyed it, as much as my husband and I did.

My son loves aeroplanes and anything to do with them, he always runs outside to look as soon as he hears them going over the house. So this event is right up his street.

As part of the Battle of Britain commemorations, the Red arrows will be performing their display around the Rock of Gibraltar on Saturday 19th September at 11am. There will be other air displays including 4 Hawks, 2 Typhoons, over 20 Tornadoes and 4 Harriers, so lots to see.

Some of the aircrafts will be practising in the week, so if you live nearby there’s a good chance you will get a preview.

The red arrow display will last 22 minutes and the suggested area to watch it from is the lighthouse area of Europa point. There is parking in the area and buses will be running as well, which is recommended as it will be very busy.

The Battle of Britain commemoration weekend will also include a special service on the Sunday at the King’s Chapel, and a military concert on the Saturday night at the Alameda Open Air Theatre.

  2. Hi, Just to say thanks for posting this about the Red Arrows.

I wouldnt have known about it at all if it werent for your blog.

I took the kids on Saturday and we had a BRILLIANT day out.

The Red Arrows were amazing. I particularly liked the Union Jack formation that they did with red, blue and white smoke. Genius! My little girl loved the heart formation and my little boy, well he loved every second of it.

There was also a static display at the airport afterwards that you could go and see the planes up close.

    Thanks
    Nicky
