I have just spent a lovely Sunday afternoon in San Pedro. I have taken my parents and into the town for some tapas and then for walk along the paseo.

It is a lovely setting, nowhere near as busy as Marbella or Estepona and great for my nearly 4 year old to practice on his scooter. If you feel like having a mini workout with your walk there are a few exercise machines dotted along the way, which to be honest seem to attract the kids as well as those keen athletic types!

Also along the beach are a couple of play areas for the kids, I admit they are not both in great condition but nonetheless the kids enjoy it and you get a chance for a sit down and gaze across the sea.

There are also a couple of restaurants on the paseo as well as a beach club but it depends on what time of year you go to whether they are open or not, also if it is a weekend or not seems to make a difference too.

Just another nice free place to spend an hour or two!

Shallow beach, ideal for small children

We have had this beach recommended to us by a good friend who takes her kids there.

The beach is situated in a sheltered cove and has a long sloping beach which means that the sea stays at a shallow depth for a considerable way which makes it safer and more fun for the kids.

There are shower facilities, two chiringuitos and a car park that service the beach.

This beach does get very busy especially at weekends when families seem to take everything but the kitchen sink down to camp out for the day but I am assured it is well worth a visit.

The beach is also within walking distance to Estepona Marina, located at the end of Avda de Espana just before it joins the N340.

Amongst some of the activities on offer are the Go Karts, these are for children aged 6 years upwards and adults, so you can unleash the big kid in you as well. Also there are trampolines, electric bikes and cars, children’s rides and buggy karts. Not to mention the fantastic water sports ranging from jet skis, banana boat and water skis.

There is also a restaurant with a buffet service offering special dishes for kids, so there should be no trouble pleasing everyone.

This is one of my favourite beaches. It’s wide, the water is shallow and you can park just next to the restaurant. The chiringuito serves large salads and a variety of different dishes like hotdogs, hamburgers, pizzas…etc. This is not a place to eat the typical fried fish.

It is a great place for kids as they can play for hours in the water…there are no stones and it’s normally quite shallow…so just perfect. The only downside is that it can get quite windy….on windy days it is better to visit the beach after lunch at it seems to drop down then. Also be warned that it gets extremely busy on weekends and during the summer months.

To get there you have to exit by EL ROSARIO and then go down to the beach….you will find the car park infront of the chiringuito strait away.

This playground is actually on the beach which is quite nice as the kids can play on the sand and when they fall down it doesn’t hurt them!!

It’s near el Faro next to the restaurant ” La Pesquera” which has now changed his name to “Tutti Gusti”. I took these pictures on a sunny Sunday….so you can see how busy it gets.

There are some nice little bars and restaurants on the side to have a drink or a bite to eat while your kids are playing. We set in one called “Prainha” and had a very nice pizza….and if you are lucky you even get a live performance like this lady with the red dress dancing on the street!!!

I went here yesterday, I love going here on a windy afternoon and watching the waves crash in, it actually reminds me of home and usually induces the thought of having fish and chips and a mug of tea! We usually go for a wander along the beach, throw a few stones into the sea and try to dodge the waves as they race in. I am sure it is a lovely place to go any time of the year, i just have something that I love about stormy waves.

On a clear day there are great views of Gibraltar and Morocco and lovely sunsets so make sure you take your cameras.

There is of course Laguna village with its designer shops but to be honest I have never looked at them, they all seem a bit out of my budget and style range. They do have some cafes and restaurants as well as the beach club with its fantastic pool.

Also the essential use of free toilets!

This is one of my favourite parks, it is so bright and colourful and so big. There are lots of different sections to suit all ages. It is right on the paseo so the views aren’t bad either.

We usually bring my sons little bike with us and then we can incorparate a walk and bike ride with going to the park, and if we really want to treat ourselves there is a great Heladeria in Estepona town which sells amazing pancakes. If you want to stay by the park there is a small cafe next to it and a Chiringuito as well.

This park is ideal for Autumn, Winter and Spring but as it is not covered so its too hot in the summer.

Unfortunately the park has been targetted by graffitti artists so has lost its nice clean look, hopefully this will be cleaned up soon, and fortunately the kids don”t seem bothered by it.

Be warned this park is very popular at weekends, however due to its size there is always something free to play on.
